I just read their weird, buzzwordy statement. It isn't clear they ARE quitting. They're talking about 'supporting the queen' and some guff about a CHARITABLE ENTITY they are planning. On the other hand they're going to be financially independent (presumably coming off the civil list).

If they come off the civil list nurse it gives them great protection in the courts when they go after the tabloids.
Of course the bit theyve not thought about is that without their royal connections and influence they are basically irrelevant. No one important will donate to their new charity or pay heed to them. The royal family survives on influence and connections.
